Oregon Forensics Forever exists to preserve, protect, and rebuild the proud tradition of speech and debate at the University of Oregon — one of the oldest and most accomplished forensics programs in the nation.

For 148 years, Oregon Forensics trained generations of students to think critically, speak confidently, and engage passionately with the world’s most challenging ideas. The program produced national champions, civic leaders, educators, and advocates who credit their success to lessons learned in forensics.

When institutional changes placed the program’s future in jeopardy, alumni, students, and community members came together to ensure that Oregon’s forensics legacy would not be lost. What began as an urgent response has grown into a sustained movement — one dedicated to ensuring that future students can experience the same transformative education that forensics provided us.

Today, Oregon Forensics Forever serves as the communications and advocacy hub for alumni and supporters. Through this site, we share updates on the program’s status, coordinate outreach efforts, organize fundraising campaigns, and publish commentary on issues that affect forensics education at Oregon and beyond.

Our work is grounded in the belief that debate and public speaking are not luxuries but essential components of a world-class education. They teach students how to reason, persuade, and lead — skills that strengthen democracy and enrich civic life.

We collaborate closely with the Oregon Forensics Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises and distributes funds to directly support student competitors, travel, and tournament participation. Together, we’re building both immediate support and long-term sustainability for forensics in Oregon.

The voices that once filled debate rounds and speech halls now unite here — to keep Oregon’s legacy of excellence alive, to honor the educators who shaped us, and to ensure that generations to come have the same opportunity to stand, speak, and be heard.
