Former University of Oregon Directors of Forensics Trond Jacobsen and David Frank publish Defending and Challenging American Empire: The 1927–28 University of Oregon Forensics Program World Debate Tour and the November 25, 1927, Manila “Debate of the Century” in Studies in Debate and Oratory. Drawing on archival sources, the article recounts the first university world debate tour and revisits the landmark Manila debate, reaffirming Oregon Forensics’ early influence on international debate and democratic argument.
